Sunday Chatter – 12/16
AGLOCO Shuts Down
It was announced earlier this week that AGLOCO will be shutting down due to a lack of funding. The announcement comes after several users noticed the site did not renew its security certificate. With many sites basing their revenue around member participation, it comes as no surprise to me. An e-mail sent out by their development team stated the following:
Dear Chris,
We would like to update you on the status of AGLOCO’s operations. We continue to believe in the AGLOCO concept, but our revenue is currently not sufficient to give Members a meaningful distribution. And though there are increases in membership, the resulting revenue is not enough to support operating costs. As a development team we are unable to continue to use our savings to fund the operations. If any Member would like to pursue continuing the operations of AGLOCO, you may contact us at agloco1@live.com .
We would like to thank every Member for supporting our effort to bring a piece of the Internet directly to the user. We hope that we can find a way to keep the operations going.

It’s somewhat sad to see a dot com biz crumble. I guess that’s what happens when they took their company public before they were ready to.
Office Snapshots
I tripped upon a site this week that showcases office snapshots (hence the name) of some of today’s brightest internet startups, as well as big boys like Yahoo! and Netflix. Take a look at some of the neat workspaces employees get to sit in everyday. I’m kind of jealous.
YouTube Partner Program
YouTube is rolling out a new Partner Program which will allow its users to profit from the videos they upload. The money you make is revenue contributed to YouTube by the major labels and networks the site partners with. Read the complete list of requirements and submit an application to become a partner.
FREE Christmas Wallpaper
Gary Hess has provided free Christmas wallpaper for you to download and enjoy this holiday season. There are some wonderful images available – most of which I’ve set up to rotate on my desktop. 😎
Also just a quick note to remind you that I’m still accepting guest posts for the holiday season.
