WordPress 2.9.2 Available for Download
The latest version of WordPress went online today for download. WordPress 2.9.2 isn’t a major upgrade, but if you have multiple authors who write for your blog, you should get the new version. A vulnerability has been found where trashed posts can be read by other authors of your blog.
It’s not really a security issue, but rather a privacy issue if you don’t want other authors to see what you may have been working on, but decided not to publish.
If you run a one-person blog, I’d hold off on upgrading until a major update comes out in a few more months. Although, if that yellow stripe at the top of your Dashboard is getting annoying, just click the upgrade link and get it out of the way.
I upgraded MoneyMakingScoop.com without any issues, but as always, it’s a safe bet to backup your database just to be sure.

Hi Chris,
I tried upgrading mine and it gives me an error. It did this the last time there was an upgrade as well. I asked someone once before and was told just to wait until the next upgrade came out and to try again. Is this common or does this mean I have to upgrade it manually? Or should I even worry about it?
Thanks – Heidi

That’s odd, Heidi. Perhaps manually upgrading is the way to go for you. What type of error were you receiving?
