Google Working on Broadband Internet Network

What would having Google as an ISP be like? I can only imagine it would be the best Internet browsing experience ever. The search engine giant said this week it wants to begin testing broadband service in select areas of the U.S. Fiber-optic networks could deliver speeds of 1 gigabit per second to as many as 500,000 Americans. Google will collect responses from interested parties on where to launch the test networks until March 26 and they’ll announce their target communities shortly after.

7 Factors for Generating Traffic to Your Blog

There are numerous ways to get traffic to your blog, but some are more lucrative than others. Everything from social networking, RSS feeds, e-mail newsletters and search engines can be valuable to a blogger to generate hits. However, analyzing each of these methods is something that needs to be done to ensure a lasting source of exposure and traffic remains intact. ProBlogger highlighted 7 factors this week used to generating traffic to your site over and above the normal methods. One of them is your blog’s personality and how you come across to your readers. If you’re generally a likable person offline, translating that trait to your online work is just as important. Building relationships with others in your niche and networking is just as important as trying to get the number one ranked term on Google.

8 Apps for Valentine’s Day

Today being Valentine’s Day, it’s important to not only pay extra attention to the special someone in your life (not that you shouldn’t already do that on a daily basis), but it’s also the perfect time to download some new iPhone/iPod Touch apps. The folks at Mashable picked out the 8 most popular and unique apps this year. Among the list are apps to send electronic cards, flowers and Valentine’s greetings. There’s even an app to help you write a love note if you’re not very good at that stuff. Rounding out the list is the anti-Valentine’s Day app, which gives you the ability to take the cheesy gifts given on this certain today and blow them to smithereens. Bitter, much? If apps aren’t your thing, there’s some other high-tech ways to say ‘I love you.’
