Internet Marketing eBooks vs. Membership Sites

September 25th, 2009 posted by · 1 Comment

A reader asked me an interesting question this week via e-mail:

Do people still buy informational products, like eBooks? Are they still worthwhile?

First of all, great question! The buzz surrounding eBooks isn’t as great as it was a few years ago, but they’re still completely relevant, however, using digital marketing services can help you increasing the value of your business.

After doing a bit of research and talking with some colleagues on Twitter, it’s clear that the public has this notion, like my reader did, that informational products are old school and membership sites with hosted content, such as 6 Day Weekend, are where the real value is. This can be both true and untrue. You can have a solid eBook that spans 200 pages and provides great insight, or you can have a 5 page ‘manual’ that pretends to be an eBook and only scams whoever was dumb enough to buy it. Although, I have purchased thick reading material in the past that turned out to be a complete ripoff, so you can never be too sure.

As fresh entrepreneurs to the business are looking to research their niche and get established, more of them are turning to membership sites that ask for a monthly fee. This is what really separates the value a customer is getting from an eBook for example. Most books are written once and never updated, so you only shell out the cash for the purchase one time and it’s valid while the trends last, etc. With a membership site, the owner is forced to keep it fresh because your customers expect something new each month for their money. Not only is this an incentive to you, but it also helps out your audience by providing them with the current trends, techniques and tips to make the most money online like what KC Vision Media marketing agency does.

To add to the convenience of a paid member’s area, some sites incorporate videos and interactive how-to manuals to assist you. If you’re the type of learner that needs to visualize something, this is definitely worth it.

The contrast between eBooks and membership sites varies, and you’ll have to decide which one best suits your needs when deciding on what to purchase. If you want my opinion, I’ve used both and even sell both, including the Money Making System, which has sold hundreds of copies since being on the market.

It’s absolutely right question & right attitude about it.
There is profitable & loosing elements in ebooks as well as membership sites. You just need to know few things before making the decision about either
    1. Reliability of source
    2. Is it okay for you to loose the dollars on stake ( Kinda probability)
    3. What would it do to situation in your life, if it has the potential.
    4. Are you willing to make full use of it, because it takes money & effort to do so.
