How a Flip Camera + Blogging = $20,000 in Free Publicity
Some bloggers spend thousands of dollars on advertising and PR, but one blogger proved you can get the same exposure for free. Mark Hayward explains how one niche blog post about opening up his business in the Caribbean lead to a mainstream magazine wanting to feature him among their pages. What would normally cost over $20,000 to buy an ad in the magazine, Hayward now had a full page which talked all about him and his business. Since then, he’s received many other free PR opportunities come his way. Who says you need an advertising budget?
Another Reason to Use Google Chrome
The war between Firefox and Chrome continues, but to Google’s credit, there’s one heck of a reason to use their browser: NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) games. Remember those from back in the day? Games like Super Mario Bros, Tetris, and The Legend of Zelda filled our time after school and on weekends. An NES emulator called vNES has been tweaked to work with both Firefox AND Chrome, but it runs 10x faster in Chrome than in Firefox, according to Mashable.com. I think I just found a new way to waste even more of my time when I should be working. Grrr!
How to Improve Your Productivity Overnight
Working online for a living can be a bit distracting. Between Tweets, e-mail, instant messenger and YouTube, a person can get distracted very easily. DailyBlogTips.com highlights a few simple tips you can use to make sure you stay on task and get things done. In fact, the list is so simple, it’s almost funny. But it works! I’ve been using these methods for years, which basically comes down to making a list and sticking to it. Just for kicks, I’ve saved all of those lists and must have a few hundred sheets of paper with lines through them crossing out tasks I needed to do.

I’m developing quite an obsession with to-do lists to help my productivity.
Forget 42 inch TVs, I’ve just invested in a 42 inch noticeboard to kick my arse in to action every morning!

Hi Chris,
I guess, you have combined couple of good articles here. I am just wondering, if you have any of those recommendations yourself? What does your experience say about their application?

If you’ve ever heard Jason from IWearYourShirt.com’s story, it’s very similar to the one you mention about and the power of PR. He started getting paid $1 on Jan 1st to wear a sponsor’s shirt and increased it a dollar a day from there. He is now more than 1/2way sold out in 2010, and has been featured on CNN! One little PR idea can go a long way!
