Don’t Use Google AdSense on BANS Sites

June 16th, 2008 posted by · No Comments

I received an e-mail this morning from a good friend warning me about the hazzards of using Google AdSense on Build a Niche Store (BANS) sites. Up to this point, I had AdSense on all of my BANS sites… but have since removed it.

Here’s the e-mail in detail.

Hi Chris

I know you’re a big supporter of BANS and using AdSense, but I wanted to let you know not to put two and two together. Apparently there’s a lot of chatter amongst BANS users on the forums that Google is de-indexing BANS sites with AdSense on them. Although using AdSense on a BANS store isn’t violating the terms, there are too many sites using their stores to simply make money with AdSense and not the eBay Partner Network as it should be. Another reason is that these sites simply pull feeds from eBay to display the content and Google doesn’t wish to be associated with these “computer generated content” sites.

I spoke with — —— on Friday and he noticed that all four of his BANS sites have been de-indexed from Google within the last week. This looks like it will be happening more from now on.

Just a heads up.

So there you have it – don’t use Google AdSense if you have a BANS store. It’s not that much of a loss though, as having a BANS store in the first place is to make you money with eBay, not Google.
